Sing...sing a song

The LORD your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing."

As I was entering my works canteen a blast from the past was playing on the radio. 'Nothings gonna stop us now'... written by starship. I was 16 when it was released, I'd finished secondary education and schools were definitely out for the summer...on hearing that song I was Immediately hit with so many emotions, memories, visions of the beaches and pier where I lived at the time, smells return and tears welled up for a split second, it was like I was on overload.

I loved that song so much I'd play it over and over, I'm sure we are all familiar with this, it brought so much joy to me when I heard it, the film that it was the theme song for was pretty OK too.

It's amazing what music can do, it has the power to change your mood, make you laugh, make you cry. It soothes the soul.

I remembered that we are made in God's image and thought about what he must feel when music reaches his ears. The angles sing, there are choruses in heaven. What a delight it must have been to hear David singing and playing his lyre.

I wonder if our fathers heart jumps when he hears the sounds of our voices, whether he recalls the words of David's songs repeated by generations of worshippers throughout the ages. I Imagine Joy, lots of it. I remembered the verse in zephaniah 3:17 ..how wonderful to know our father sings with rejoicing in his heart, over you...and me.

A celebration....how amazing is that...
